New Years Eve

It's the last day of the year. I hope 2009 was good for you. I know it was good for me. There's been some rocky roads, don't get me wrong. However I'm still here. My health is fairly good. I still have a job. My family is doing alright. When I put all the bad things beside all of the good things that 2009 gave me, the good things win by a mile.

I want to send a special thank you to my friends at Magical Holiday Home. Because of them my holidays have been the best they have ever been. I learn and continue to learn so much from those gals. I don't know how I ever managed without them. They are always there to lean on when daily lifes gets to be too much to handle. We don't just talk about Christmas, we talk about what ailes us, what makes us happy, family, and so on. I've always been a lover of Christmas since I was a little girl. But after finding Organized Christmas back in 2004 I've become a Christmas nut and I love it. And its nice to know that I'm not alone.

2010 finds me taking a hard look at how I want my life to be. I haven't thought about it in quite a while. For one I need to take better care of myself. That means eating better, exercising as well as well as watching my spending habits and worrying so much about things til I'm literally sick to my stomache. Sometimes I find myself so stress that I get ill. And when its all over I think back and wonder why do I put myself through that. I also want to rebuild my relationship with God because without him I would not and could not have made it through 2009. So I am going back to church. I have not attended church service in years. Its time for me to go back home.

Back In Business!

Hooray!  Magicial Holiday Home forums are back up and looking great.  Let me tell you I and many others were going through withdrawals when the site went down last week. There has been lots of changes to the new forum.  Check it out.  Gingerbug, our wonderful creator has truly outdone herself. We over at MHH love her dearly.

Houston, We Have A Problem

I'm am losing my mind. My favorite forum, Magical Holiday Home is experiencing some problems and I can't chat with my MHH family. What's a girl to do.

I'm off today (furloughed rather). I am going to take full advantage of this day. First, eat breakfast. After breakfast I will make more greeting card cd's to send out this year. Then I will continue working on my balcony. I'm getting it ready for autumn then soon after. Christmas.

I have been putting together weekly menus by looking through cookbooks and going on the internet for recipes. While doing so I have come across a lot of delicious looking desserts that I will like to try and maybe do round the holidays. This Sunday I will try my first new dessert - "Angel Lush Pineapple Cake". It's a recipe I found in a Kraft Food recipe book. I'll let you know how I made out.

Pass The Halfway Mark

Well we only have 141 days til Christmas. I don't know about anyone else but I'm very excited.

I've had a busy but fun summer which is why I haven't posted in months. (LOL) But I'm back and hope to be posting more often as summer is officially over (for me anyways). Now I can focus more on my Christmas preparations.

Today I've been hard at work. I had made a To-Do list a while back and I have nearly completed everything I need to do.
  1. Checked the website of my favorite local garden store and other local spots for list of holiday events.
  2. Created and printed invitations for my annual Christmas Eve dinner party.
  3. Updated blogs
  4. Had to re-write my master shopping list. I'm keeping it in my purse from this point on.
  5. Started an inventory of my Christmas decorations and a room by room decorating plan.
  6. Finished 5 acrylic post-it note pad stands to be given as gifts. Have 6 more to do. There's more about this at MHH.
  7. Finished my homemade greeting cards.
  8. Finalized my 24 days to Christmas calendar.
I still have more craft projects planned so I need to get to the store to pick up supplies and get started. I also want to check online for Christmas movies and music to add to my collection.

I went Dollar Tree the other day and they already have an isle of Christmas stuff out. I found some Christmas theme post-it pads to use with the acrylic post-it stand that I will make for myself. Also I picked up fun ornaments to decorate a 3 ft tree which will sit outside my front door I think... I'm not sure where I'm want to put it. Plus I bought cello treat bags for the Kissmas Whisks. This is a sweet treat I like to give out with my gifts.

What's Next!?

I know Halloween hasn't arrived yet but I'm now getting ready for Thanksgiving. I went to a Halloween bash this past weekend which was a blast. So as far as I'm concerned I'm done with Halloween (lol).

Anyway seems Im not the only one thinking about Thanksgiving Day. I spent Sunday writing up my menu and talking to folks about what dishes they are bringing. This year my parents and a few other relatives and friends will gather at my house. My parents will make sweet potato pies, and my best friend will make a cake shaped like a turkey. She's very crafty with cakes. Along with the traditional dishes - turkey, ham, etc.- I will be making what's become a family favorite, crab stuffing.

On Nov. 1st, the Thanksgiving Countdown will start at Magical Holiday Home and Organized Christmas. I for one am excited. There will be quite a bit to do in the three weeks leading up to the big day. The first week will be getting organized. I have put together a fall notebook which contains a section dedicated to Thanksgiving. In it I have the countdown, shopping lists, menu planner, recipes, everything I'll need to be ready. Will keep you updated on how things are going.
