25 Days til Christmas

Happy Holidays!  I can't believe Christmas will be here in 25days.  Been blasting Christmas music from the car and in the house since Thursday evening.

There's lots I need to do to get ready for the festive day...bake cookies, purchase and wrap gifts, and pick up food items for my Christmas Eve family dinner.  I'm very excited.

I spent the entire holiday weekend putting up decorations.  I even decided to turn on my Christmas lights a day early.  It was nice coming home tonight to see the lights all glowing from my balcony as I drove down the street.  My decorations...I think I really out-did myself this year (thanks to Pinterest).  I found new uses for many of my decorations.  Can't wait to show you what I've done.  Hopefully I can get my pictures posted in the next few days.

Well it's near my bedtime (back to work in the morning).  Better call it a night.

Let the Decorating Begin

Yesssss! Finally I can start putting up decorations!  "Deck the halls with boughs of holly,  Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-laaaaa."

Stay tuned...

More Finds at the Dollar Store

I just cannot stay out of the dollar store.  I went in there hoping to find some cute little bows to add to one of my small Christmas trees.  Unfortunately they only had the red velvet ones, which I have plenty of.  Looks like I'm going to have to try Michael's or AC Moore for what I'm looking for.

Anywho...Although I didn't find the bows I did find other goodies.

You know those word plaques that are all over Pinterest?  Well I found one in Dollar Tree.  Yes! DOLLAR TREE!  And I have the perfect place for it.  (Couldn't pass up the Ho Ho Ho sign either)

Of course I found another headband.  When will I learn lol.

Blue Christmas - Porky Pig

I remember the first time I heard this song.  It was one late night as I was driving down the highway heading home from a parttime job I had at the time.  I was listening to a local radio station that was playing all Christmas music when this song came on.  I was in tears.  I think it is so cute and funny.

One More Post Before Bed

Christmas Hats!

Today a co-worker came to my desk and I noticed she was wearing a Christmas hat.  At first I just looked at her, puzzled.  I honestly don't know why I looked at her the way I did lol.  Then I asked why she had on the hat.  She was decorating the Christmas tree that sits in the lobby of our building.  One of the maintenance guys who usually puts up the tree will be off next week, which is when the tree usually goes up.  So they decided to put it up this week.  I transfered to this building, actually a year ago today and I have never walked through the lobby.  All employees enter through a separate door.  I'm going to have to go take a peek once it's all done.

I have quite a collection of Christmas hats/headbands - twenty-five to be exact.  One for every day counting down to Christmas Day.  I don't know what posessed me to start buying all of these hats.  I'm trying to stop but I can't

The headbands were all bought from the dollar store.

Here are my favorites.

Let the hat wearing begin!

Temptation

I'm fighting temptation right now. For the past several days I've been telling myself to wait til after Thanksgiving to put up my Christmas deocrations. I had finally got things under control and the temptation went away...til this evening. Here's why.

First of all, I'm about to leave work and my car wouldn't start. It is so cold here, it killed my battery. I had to get a hotshot from a coworker (I hope it starts in the morning). Then the drive on the beltway was the absolute worse. Took me nearly an hour to get home. By this time, I had such a headache I just could not wait to get in the house. As I turn down the little road to head towards my complex, I see a house completely lit up with Christmas lights. My frown quickly turned into a smile and I was like, "awwww." Then driving through my complex, I see one of the balconies is all aglow. Now I'm like, "Darn it! I want to put up my decorations!"

I don't know y'all, I think some of my stuff may be going up this weekend. lol

Baby It's Cold Outside

Brrrrr...

Got up early, early this morning and took a drive to the Super Walmart to pick up groceries for Thanksgiving.  I tell you the hawk is out there.

Once back home I changed into my flannels and socks and propped myself on the sofa with a nice warm cup of hot chocolate and threw in a Christmas movie.  Been sitting here every since.

So far I've watched Elf, Deck the Halls, Fred Claus, Shrek the Halls, and now I'm watching Christmas with the Kranks.  I just love the scene where the sun has just gone down and all the houses are are lit up with Christmas lights (except for the Kranks house lol).  Something about Christmas lights.

I threw out my VCR a few years ago and now I can't watch the ones on VHS.  Guess I'll have to go find them on DVD.  Hope I can find them at a good deal.

Oh well, back to my regularly scheduled program.

Christmas Cards

Well my Christmas cards are signed, sealed and ready for the post-office. This year for the card swap over at Magical Holiday Home, we had 25 members participate.   I think we had more last year, but 25 is still a good amount.  All I need to do now is pick up some stamps.  (I have them turned over so that I don't show anyone's address)

This year the USPS has some really cool postage stamps.  The nicest ones I've seen in years.  This year they have stamps from one of my favorite TV Christmas classics - Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer.  You can see them and others here.

Yesterday, we had our first snow fall.  Unfortunately it did not last long but it was pretty to see coming down. By morning the snow had melted away and when getting in my car the doors were sticking a little.   I think we're going to have a brutal winter. Perhaps another "Snowmagedon" like in 2010.  I wouldn't mind being snowed in a few days (wink).

I've Got That Holiday Feeling

Yes Indeed I dooooooo...

Earlier today while doing chores around the house, I came across the new ornaments I bought on clearance for my tree last year.  With the gold ornaments I recently bought from the dollar store I think my tree will really be pretty.

Can't wait to start decorating.

A Trip to Dollar Tree

Today while out and about, I stopped in my favorite store, Dollar Tree and picked up some cute ornaments for my Christmas tree.  My tree looked so bare last year, I told myself that this year it was really going stand out.

I can't wait to decorate my tree with these and the other ornaments I bought on clearance last year.

Also found other goodies in Dollar Tree:

Now both my dishwasher and refrigerator will be decorated for Christmas.

I said I was not going to purchase any more Christmas hats, but I just could not resist lol.

This year I decided to use something different in my bedroom windows.  These snowflakes are so cute.  All I need to do is wrap them with clear lights and they will glow so pretty in my windows.

Dollar Tree has so many pretty ornaments.  It was really hard to choose.  They have these really cute Frosty the Snowman tophats in black or red. I really wanted them but then I saw some pretty mistletoe ornaments and grabbed a few of those, but put them back when I finally decided on the gold glittery ornaments.  In the back of my mind I am contemplating going back and getting those hat ornaments.

Oh Dear!

So I'm organizing my kitchen, giving it a good deep cleaning.  Trying to get ready for the hours of cooking and baking I will be doing over the next two months, when I broke my favorite platter.

About five or six years ago, I bought this platter  on clearnace in Target for five bucks.  I was attempting to pull out my serving pieces, doing a check to see if I have everying thing needed for the upcoming holidays when it slipped out of my hand and hit the floor.  Tisk! Tisk! Tisk!  Now I have to go out and get a new one and trust me it won't be for $5.
